What is Sigma Sigma Rho?​​
 

Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Incorporated is a South Asian Interest Sorority. Our Sorority was established December 10, 1998 by ten women yearning to be a part of a group that emphasized unity amoung South Asian women. 


The name Sigma Sigma Rho was chosen because it represents our motives and goals, which are expressed as Sisterhood, Society, and Remembrance.​

Why should I join Sigma Sigma Rho?

 

Students who join Sigma Sigma Rho will be exposed to exciting leadership opportunities, the chance to make a difference on campus and in the Gainesville community, and friendships that last a lifetime. Becoming a sister of Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Incorporated fosters academic excellence, student involvement on campus, community service, and life-long relationships with sisters. Our sisterhood also promotes networking, and encourages each member to maximize their potential as a student and a young woman. How do I join Sigma Sigma Rho? What is the criteria to join?

 

Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc. is a culturally based Greek organization that is open to ALL undergraduate females who uphold the values and principles it encompasses. To be eligible for membership, interested students must attend one informational and two events of our Colony Recruitment and have a minimum cumulative 2.3 GPA. 

Do I have to be South Asian to join?

 

No. Although Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc. is a South Asian based sorority, we have sisters coming from many other cultures and ethnicities as well. Sigma Sigma Rho promotes South Asian cultural awareness, but we are not exclusively South Asian. 

Does hazing take place in your organization?

 

Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc. is a strictly non-hazing organization. We will never subject our new members to any physical, mental, or emotional

harm, illegal activities and humiliating acts. Please take a look at our Anti-Hazing Policy for more information.
